Abstract: Nowadays, nursing is an effective and indispensable member of the health team both in Turkey and in the world. Because people need care practices any point their life experiences that end in health, well-being, discomfort, disease and death. While palliative care practices, which are seen as key point of nursing practices among care needs, are only care for patients in the last stage of life, it is opinion that it is necessary to reduce the pain level and improve the quality of life according to the palliative care principles. Recent cancer patients constitute a significant part of patients receiving palliative care and have problems due to symptoms caused by chemotherapy treatment. Pain is the most feared outcome of these symptoms. Pharmacological treatment, pain, community, despite various educational practices, patients often complain of problem. It is important to create complementary and integrated approaches to palliative care for pain, which significantly affects the daily living activities and quality of life of patients. In addition, complementary and integrated care practices in palliative care help to prevent nursing from being a job-oriented profession and to focus on nursing role and practices, not medical applications.

Abstract: Objective: To evaluate the therapeutic effects of slotted manuduction on knee extension apparatus-induced traumatic adhesion in multiple medical institutions. Methods: A total of 160 patients with knee extension apparatus induced traumatic adhesion who were admitted in our hospital from January 2017 to December 2017 were selected, and randomly divided into two groups: experimental group and control group, (n=80). There were 44 males and 36 females in the experimental group, with mean age of (45.95±9.48) years old, which was treated with slotted manuduction; and 43 males and 37 females in the control group, with mean age of (46.52±9.07) years old, which received traditional treatment. The treatment was performed once per day for 30 days, with 30 minutes once a time. Informed consent was obtained from each patient. Main outcome measures: The degree of knee joint activities, score of knee joint actively flexural behavior function, and the grading of joint function prior to and after treatment, as well as therapeutic effects were compared in two groups. Results: The significant effective rate was 90.00% in the experimental group and 76.25% in the control group (P<0.05), the former group more effective than the latter group. Comparing the degree of knee joint activities, score of knee joint function, score of knee joint actively flexural behavior function, and the grading score of joint function, the experimental group was better than the control group (P<0.01). Conclusion: Slotted manuduction has an extract and safe effect on treating knee extension apparatus induced traumatic adhesion, which has high operational and promotional value.

Abstract: Objective: This study aims to evaluate the clinical efficacy of the percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) complicated by multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS). Methods: 216 patients with AMI complicated by MODS hospitalized in the Department of Cardiology of our hospital from January 2011 to March 2013 were divided into a PCI group (n=98) and a drug treatment group (n=118). The basic clinical data, the incidence rate of each dysfunction organ, the number of dysfunction organs and the mortality were compared between the two groups. Results: The rate of patients with ST-segment elevation AMI in the PCI group was higher than in the drug treatment group, and the rate of patients with non-ST-segment elevation AMI was lower than in the drug treatment group (P<0.05). The use of temporary pacemakers and IABP was similar between the two groups (P>0.05). The recanalization rate in PCI group was much higher than that in the drug treatment group (P<0.05). The two groups had similar rates in the incidence of organ dysfunction in the heart, lungs, kidneys, stomach and intestine, etc. and the PCI group had lower organ dysfunction incidence rate in the liver, brain and hematological system than the drug treatment group (P<0.05). The dysfunction incidence rate of 2 organs was higher in PCI group than in drug treatment group (P<0.05), the dysfunction incidence rate of 3 organs was similar between the two groups, and the dysfunction incidence rate of 3 organs or more was significantly lower in PCI group than in drug treatment group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Despite the high risk and high mortality in the patients with AMI complicated by MODS, satisfactory clinical efficacy can still be achieved as long as positive and effective PCI therapy is applied.

Abstract: The study was conducted in Godere district, southwestern Ethiopia to assess the potential, opportunities and constraints in honey production. 120 beekeepers were selected and interviewed from two kebeles using semi structured questionnaire. Participatory discussions with key informant at village levels and Zone and District level bee experts and extension workers were also held to generate primary data. All the interviewed household heads were male headed, with average age of 37.42 years. The average number of traditional beehive holding was 28.4. It was found out that there are two to three honey production seasons in the district. The average productivity of colonies in traditional log beehives was 24.2+9.33. The major opportunities to engage on honeybee beekeeping were long beekeeping experience, existence of huge natural resource that includes honeybee flora, honeybee colonies, high productivity and increasing demand of honey in the area. About 93.25% of their produce (totally crude honey) was sold in nearby markets. 94.4% of respondents sold their honey immediately after harvest, while the remaining 5.6% stored for more than a month. 76.2% of the producers largely sold their honey in the nearest local market, only less than 24% of the respondents transport their honey to Meti town. The price difference between the village market and Meti was as high as 70%. The major honey buyers reported by the producers are the collectors (82.45%) and tej brewers (16.32%) in Godere district. Generally, the honey production system in the area is traditional forest beekeeping with a lot of constraints. Therefore, it needs systematic approach to tackle all the problems in the whole system starting from input supply all along to marketing. Provision of extension services to upgrade knowledge, develop skills and introduction of improved technologies needs due attention.

Abstract: A productivity of queen bee depends on several factors. Queen age is one of the most important factors affecting queen’s, as well as colony performance. The study was conducted to determine the effects of queen ages on performances of honeybee (Apis mellifera) colonies. The queens were reared from local honeybee, Apis mellifera bandasii (A. m. bandasii); nuclei colonies were formed and then transferred to standard Langstroth hives when all the frames of the nuclei boxes were occupied with brood and adult bees. Performances of the colonies headed by the new queens were evaluated over three years. Brood area, number of queen cell cups started and swarm queen cells constructed, number of empty cells/100 cells/per colony (brood solidness) and honey yield per harvest were determined every active season for three consecutive years. Colonies headed by 1-, 2- and 3-year-old queens produced 4721.43±511.85, 5523.08±490.07 and 3433.82±413.83 cm2 sealed brood, and constructed 0.07±0.07, 2.23±0.52 and 9.90±1.89 queen cell cups and swarm cells/colony with 1.86±0.38, 2.40±1.65 and 8.85±2.52 empty cells/100 cells/per colony, respectively. Honey harvested from 1- and 3-year-old queen colonies averaged 13.34±1.11 and 10.50±2.04 kg/colony/harvest, respectively. The colonies headed by 1-, and 2-year-old queens had more brood areas, better brood solidity, less number of queen cells but no significant differences in honey production compared to colonies headed by 3-year-old queens. Our results indicate that queen age has a significant effect on colony performances, suggesting that requeening every three years is adequate for our local honeybee colonies.
